Born in Port Elizabeth on South Africa’s astonishingly beautiful southeast coast, Tayla spent her childhood years going on many safari holidays with her parents. This instilled a fiery passion for the bush like no other which lead her to become a Field Guide at Kariega Game Reserve in South Africa.
Tayla has a particular soft spot for elephants describing them as her favourite African mammal due to their gracious intelligence and incredible interactions. A close second being the bushveld rain frog, she finds their termite gobbling antics hilarious not to mention their particularly grumpy expressions.
After Kariega, Tayla moved to Zambia as the manager for Anabezi Camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park, an area and country she is deeply passionate about and where a piece of her heart will forever reside.
Tayla returned to South Africa and worked as field guide at Earth Lodge, one of Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve’s most acclaimed and luxurious lodges. Here she gained valuable experience of the lowveld before moving onto becoming a full time presenter for WildEarth.tv’s #safariLIVE and featuring on numerous National Geographic shows both from the Sabi Sand and the Maasai Mara.
Tayla joined our team as a private guide in 2017 and has enriched our team with her wealth of knowledge and good humor. She now divides her time between conducting private safaris across Africa and training the next generation of field guide’s at EcoTraining in South Africa.
