1
Day
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet your Asilia guide. You will be taken to Lake Victoria Serena for an overnight stay. Traffic in Entebbe can be notoriously bad, so this journey can take around one hour and 30 minutes. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or, if there is time, you can explore the city.
2
Day
This morning, your guide will transport you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight in a light-aircraft to Kasese Airstrip. There you’ll be met by a driver in a sharedvehicle for the two-hour trip to Kyaninga Lodge. In the afternoon, relax at the lodge or enjoy an optional crater walk
3
Day
This morning you will be taken to the Kibale National Park headquarters, where the park wardens and rangers will give you a full briefing on what to expect and how to behave as you set out to see the chimpanzees in one of Uganda’s most beautiful forest landscapes. Please note that the chimpanzees are highly mobile, using both the ground and the trees to rove far and wide in search of food to satisfy their varied diet. Their location will depend on a combination of factors: Which trees are fruiting, whether the chimpanzees are in the mood for hunting colobus monkeys, and what their group politics dictate. Chimpanzee tracking is therefore a variable experience, depending on wherever they are on any particular day. It is hard to predict how long you will trek before finding the chimpanzees, but once you do you will be able to spend an hour observing their behaviour and taking photos. In the afternoon you will be taken back to Kyaninga Lodge.
4
Day
Today after breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kasese Airstrip for a scheduled flight to Kihihi Airstrip. On arrival at Kihihi, you will be greeted by a new guide from Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp and driven the two hours to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will arrive in time for lunch; and then later in the afternoon, you can choose to relax at the lodge or go on a community visit
5-6
Day
Each morning you will head out to find the gorillas. This involves an early start from the lodge, walking to the nearby Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters, where you will receive a briefing and meet your guides and porters for the day. It is hard to predict how long the trek to find the gorillas will take – it can take anything from 30 minutes to three hours. It is important to note that trekking can be strenuous because of steep slopes and high altitudes. As with the chimpanzee trekking, once you find the gorillas you are permitted to stay for one hour, observing their behaviour and taking photos. The hour will likely pass all too quickly, and then it will be time to reluctantly make your way back to the park headquarters. From here you will be taken back to Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
7
Day
This morning you will make an early departure as you are to Entebbe. From there, you will continue onward with your driven back to Kihihi Airstrip to catch your scheduled flight international journey.
