Meet the Team

Ale Olivieri

From an Italian and Latvian background, Ale was born in Venezuela into a family of wildlife lovers and hopeless wanderers that would take her on most of family trips to explore the amazing vastness that the Venezuelan ecosystems have to offer ranging from the Angel falls to Los Llanos.

It was a constant curiosity instilled by her family to see more, and eventually falling in love with a rhino while volunteering in South Africa that led her to settle in the Greater Kruger area in South Africa in 2010. After a year of working in a wildlife rehabilitation centre, Ale then moved onto a guiding course at Lion Sands Game Reserve in the Sabi Sand to obtain all her relevant qualifications where she then proceeded to work and guide guests from all over the world while developing an unrivalled love for the Sabi river.

After Lion Sands she left the African savannah for a year to do her MSc in Conservation Science at Imperial College London, her thesis focusing on Citizen Science and Leopards in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania. After a year spent studying (and probably because of the cold) she then came back to South Africa with Tristan as the General Manager of Simbambili Game Lodge in the Sabi Sand.

The last few years Ale has works as a custom-travel designer and presenter for the popular safari show #safariLIVE for WildEarth.tv,  and as private guide all over Southern and East Africa also thanks to her fluency in English, Italian and Spanish.

During these adventures her true joy has come from helping people get the most out of the amazing feeling that comes from exploring a wild place.  While her passion for all things big and small define everything she does, she aims at not only connecting people to the natural areas but at showing them the importance every being plays and why our world’s natural areas deserve to be preserved.
