A 4-night safaris across the vastness and red dunes of the Kalahari desert. No two Tswalu experiences are the same. That’s because the way you see and touch this magical place will be shaped by your particular interests and will happen at your own pace from visiting the group of habituated meerkats, to heading into the sunset looking for Africa’s big cats. Tswalu is a generous landscape and as the sun rises above the Korannaberg mountains each morning, new opportunities to learn, play and explore come to life.

Get Started
Aboard your flight from Lanseria airport in Johannesburg towards Tswalu Kalahari. Upon arrival at the airstrip you will head to the lodge with your guide.
The Motse has been completely reimagined in 2019. It is a secluded ‘village’ of nine legae (dwellings), each with an open viewing deck and open fireplace. Tswalu’s overall purpose is to leave our world better that how we found it, and we do this through restoring the Kalahari landscape and bringing it back to its own natural beauty. Fittingly, the Motse is casually elegant with a focus on simplicity and comfort. It evokes a mood of peace, authenticity and intimacy and it delivers a new world of luxury and privacy.
Each legae is a calm haven. Beds are orientated to maximise the views and the bathrooms have been created with private gardens with outdoor showers which are open to the exceptional and vast night skies of the Kalahari.
Check in and settle before heading out on your first safari in the land of the red dunes
Tailor-made safaris days are as action-packed or as gentle as you chose them to be. In addition to consistently excellent game viewing, including Africa’s Big Five, cheetah and wild dog at Tswalu you will have the opportunity to encounter “bizzare” wildlife such as pangolin, aardvarks and bat-eared fox. In addition to your safaris on vehicle, foot or horse-back you can spend time walking with the habituated meerkats as they go on about their daily foraging. For those fascinated by human history you will be able to spend time exploring the many San Engraving sites at Tswalu
On this day you bid farewell to Tswalu and its uniqueness and head back to Johannesburg via charter flight for your onward journey
