Itinerary

DAY

01

Fly to Kasane

On arrival at the Kasane Airport, you will be met by one of the guides from Chobe Game Lodge and transferred by road to Chobe National Park and then to Chobe Game Lodge.

Here you will spend two nights recovering from your long-haul flight while enjoying the beautiful location on the edge of the Chobe River. With all activities included in your stay, you can enjoy a guided game drive through the Chobe National Park or a river safari for your chance to enjoy the excellent wildlife sightings from the water.

DAY

02

Experience Chobe Game Lodge

Chobe Game Lodge offers a choice of land or water-based activities and the most complete game experience in Chobe National Park.

You will have early morning and late afternoon game drives conducted by expert guides in open-sided 4×4 vehicles to ensure maximum visibility of Chobe National Park’s spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife. Chobe Game Lodge has introduced four electric-powered game-drive vehicles for a more immersive, carbon-emission-free safari. Meanwhile, riverside game viewing is done from the lodge's full fleet of solar-electric powered safari boats offering silent safaris on Botswana’s renowned Chobe River.

Chobe’s diverse wildlife roams in abundance. It is, for instance, home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. During the dry season these large herds, as well as vast herds of buffalo, congregate on the fertile flood plains along the Chobe River to drink, bathe and play.

DAY

03

Fly to Savuti

Departing Chobe Game Lodge, you will transfer back to the Kasane Airport for your light aircraft transfer into the Savuti area.

The Savuti region of the Chobe National Park is one of Botswana's best game viewing destinations, offering exceptional year-round game viewing. In the green season, massive herds of zebras migrate through the Savute Marsh along with other large groups of mammals in search of the rich grasses. This open marsh area makes for easier predator sightings along with the increase in prey available. The Northern and Marsh lion pride which dominate the region remain to offer excellent predator encounters.

The activities are organized around game drives throughout the Savuti area in open 4×4 safari vehicles.

DAY

04-05

Explore Savuti

Activities are organized around game drives throughout the Savuti area in open 4×4 safari vehicles. Many trips will incorporate a visit to the Savuti Marsh to give you a chance to see the historic presence of the Savuti Channel at the marsh against a backdrop of teeming wildlife. You will also enjoy a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills—a small hilly outcrop that forms a prominent landmark in the otherwise flat landscape.

Savuti boasts the second-largest summer zebra migration in Africa. Its timing is determined by the rains but usually occurs between November and December and again between February and April when the zebras move from the rivers in the north in search of the rain-ripe grasslands and full waterholes in the southwest of the park. The migration is always followed by large numbers of predators. The zebra migration is a must-see for visitors.

DAY

06

Fly to Okavango delta

You will depart from Savuti Safari Lodge and transfer via a light aircraft into the Okavango Delta.

The prime location of Camp Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, makes it one of the very few safari camps that will offer you an authentic, year-round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience.

DAY

07-08

Water Game viewing experience

The ancient riverine forests, open savannah, serpentine channels and seasonal floodplains that surround the camp make for a varied habitat of exceptional fauna and flora. The camp is one of few offering a year-round land and water game-viewing experience, in open 4×4 safari vehicles or powerboats. The diverse habitat ensures prolific sightings of elephants, buffalos, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, kudus, lechwes, lions and leopards, among many others. Birding is spectacular, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding.

Safari activities are conducted by licensed guides eager to share their in-depth knowledge and impart the treasured secrets of this great wilderness.

DAY
