Explore Botswana’s contrasting lands in one itinerary. From the white sands of the Kalahari desert to the rich and biodiverse channels of the Okavango Delta. Spend the first few days getting to know the Makgadikgadi salt pans and the ancient San culture, spend some intimate moments with the habituated meerkats and drive into the sunsets on quad bikes before heading off to Khwai, the gateway to the Delta. DAY

01

TRAVEL TO CAMP KALAHARI

Depart via light aircraft from Maun airport to Camp Kalahari. Upon arrival your  guide will transfer you back to the lodge in time for check in and for your to settle in before departing on the afternoon activity.

The laidback little sister of Jack’s and San Camp, Camp Kalahari is AN understated and affordable base in the heart of the great Kalahari. Set amongst the waving palms and acacia trees of Brown Hyena Island, the 12 funky Meru tents are perfect for families, groups and couples, and are an ideal base for discovering the charms of the desert and the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, a landscape that’s as surreal as it is sublime, and as mysterious as it is magical.

02-04

CAMP KALAHARI

Mornings at Camp Kalahari begin with an early wake up call and optional tea and coffee before heading out on game drive. During the winter months, the Kalahari is very dry and and the game species tend to stick to the remaining water sources, making it easier to spot them.

Year Round activities 

  • Up-close encounters with habituated meerkats.
  • Join the Zu/’hoasi Bushmen on bush walks through the desert.
  • Take game drives and night drives in custom built 4x4s to see the unique desert wildlife.
  • Embark on an adventurous two-hour horseback safari (for all levels of riders; additional charge). Multi-day riding safaris are also available for experienced riders – please contact us for more information.

04

TRAVEL TO KHWAI

After your morning activity and breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight onto Maun Airport where you will connect with the charter flight onto the Khwai Private Reserve.

Little Sable is a firm favourite providing an authentic and rich Okavango safari experience. This intimate, tented retreat is located amid the shimmering grasslands of the Khwai Private Reserve, one of the best-managed private concessions in the greater Okavango Delta. Up here, there’s something to see around every corner and a different activity to enjoy every day, from classic game drives to mokoro trips and boat safaris. KHWAI

With only 8, Traditional-style tents, Little Sable is an intimate camp with an emphasis on hospitality and comfort, offering a stylish yet relaxed safari experience. Each room is a cosy retreat from the elements and all have wonderfully large King-size beds (that can also be twins), writing desks, cool ensuite bathrooms, outside showers and private viewing decks with views across the shimmering grasslands.

At the main area, there is a bright lounge and dining area with extended outside decking and a large fire pit which makes the perfect spot for that first morning cuppa or an early evening G & T. Located just in front of a favourite grazing spot for zebra and elephant, it’s a fabulous wildlife-watching base during siesta time too – or at any time of day for that matter. Under the thatch, the bar, lounge and dining areas are subtly stylish, offering a touch of old-world English heritage mixed with the ambience of African inspired creativity.

TRAVEL BACK TO MAUN

This morning you will enjoy breakfast at the camp, before your transfer to Livingstone airport for your international flight.
